A Firm Built on Unhurried Attention

Orchid Advocates was established to offer Singapore residents a legal service that takes its time — one that reads thoroughly, explains clearly, and never pushes.

Our Story

Why Orchid Advocates Exists

Orchid Advocates came together because a gap existed in Singapore's legal services landscape. Pension matters — CPF disputes, nomination form errors, employer scheme disagreements, and lasting powers of attorney with financial provisions — were being handled, if at all, as appendages to larger commercial or family law practices. Few firms were prepared to sit with a retiree for two hours and simply listen.

The practice was founded on the idea that pension law deserves its own careful home. The people who come to us have often spent decades building the entitlements now in question. They deserve a reading of their documents that is thorough, an explanation that is honest about uncertainty, and a process that does not move faster than they are comfortable with.

Our name reflects something of Singapore's own character — the orchid as a symbol of considered elegance rather than showiness, of endurance rather than speed. We carry that quality, we hope, into every file we open.

The practice is based at South Beach Tower, a short walk from Esplanade and accessible from several MRT lines. Appointments are made in advance. We see clients by arrangement, not as walk-ins, because we believe that every conversation deserves preparation.

"Every pension file contains a person's working life. We read it that way."

Our mission is straightforward: to ensure that individuals and families in Singapore have access to legal support on pension matters that is patient, honest, and within reach. We do not take on more cases than we can handle with care, and we do not delegate work to juniors without supervision and explanation.

We operate within the ethical framework of Singapore's legal profession, hold current practising certificates, and maintain professional indemnity coverage appropriate to the work we undertake. We are members of the Law Society of Singapore.

Our team can conduct consultations in both English and Mandarin, ensuring that clients who are more comfortable in Mandarin are fully understood.

Pension Law in Singapore

The Central Provident Fund underpins retirement planning for most Singapore residents, yet the rules governing nominations, withdrawals, disputes, and management of CPF assets in incapacity are not always well understood. Many people discover gaps in their planning only when a family difficulty or health change makes those gaps consequential.

Orchid Advocates works specifically within this area — reviewing documents before problems arise, assisting when they do, and preparing legal instruments that anticipate future needs. Our work is quiet by design. We are not a high-volume firm. We accept a considered number of clients each month so that each one receives thorough attention.

Our Values in Practice

We believe that legal services should be accessible to people who are not accustomed to dealing with lawyers. That means clear language, patient explanation, and no assumption that a client knows the terminology before we have explained it. Jargon is replaced with sentences that work.

We also believe that a client's decision is theirs to make. Our role is to present the position, explain the options, and then step back while the client considers. We do not push. We do not create urgency. If a client needs a week to think, that week is available to them.
