Common Questions

Frequently Asked

What documents should I bring to a pension documentation review?
If you can gather your CPF statement (available via CPF Online), any scheme booklet from your employer, your beneficiary nomination form, and any correspondence you have received from your pension administrator, that is a strong starting point. If you are not certain which documents are relevant, bring what you have and we will work through them together.
How long does the negotiation process typically take?
It depends on the nature of the dispute and the willingness of the other party to engage in correspondence. Some matters settle within a few weeks of initial contact. Others, particularly where family dynamics are involved, may take longer. We will keep you informed throughout and will not move to any next step without your agreement.
Do I need an LPA even if I already have a will?
A will takes effect only after death. A Lasting Power of Attorney operates during your lifetime, in the event that you become unable to manage your own affairs. The two documents serve quite different purposes, and having one does not diminish the need for the other. If you have CPF savings or a pension scheme, specific provisions in your LPA can help ensure those assets are managed according to your wishes.
Are your fees fixed, or are there additional charges?
Our service fees are stated clearly above. For the documentation review and LPA work, there are no additional charges beyond the OPG registration fee payable to the Office of the Public Guardian. For dispute matters, we will discuss the scope and any potential disbursements with you before any work begins.
I am not sure whether I have a pension dispute — can I still come to you?
Certainly. Many clients come to us with a general unease about their pension position rather than a defined disagreement. A documentation review is often the right first step — it gives you a clear picture, and from there you can decide whether any further action seems warranted. There is no obligation to proceed beyond that.
